Online Assignment - #1 - Post a reply to this by Tuesday's Class

Reminder - we will not meet in class on campus on Monday.  Instead your assignment is to read this post, do  a research project at home and post by the end of the day Monday -  we will look at these Tuesday.
Your assignment is to research your own computer that you have at home.  You can use information from inside Windows - using "System" and "Device Manager"  - you can use information from the BIOS as well.  You may also want to download a utility like CPU-Z and the Crucial System scanner.  If you use another tool feel free to post a link to it in your post.  There are links to resources at the bottom of this post.

Things we want to know:

Brand and model of computer (if home built give brand/model of Motherboard)
CPU - type and speed
Hard drive size (do you have more than one)
RAM - type and quantity ex.  DDR2-400  8GB
Video card (integrated or non integrated - type etc)
If you are using a Dell try to find the system ID tag and enter it at the Dell website
CD-DVD drive?
What version of Windows are you running?
Do you have room in the case for another hard drive?

CPU-Z download link.  Small utility that tells you a lot about your system.  When downloading and installing be careful to uncheck any boxes for extra programs or toolbars you might not want.

You can also go to the crucial.com website and download their memory scanner to tell you what type of RAM you have and if you have any empty slots:

System Information Tool in Windows and a website showing 11 free system tools - I've used Speccy and Belarc Advisor:

Some excellent replies so far,  we will talk about these on Tueday.  Also when posting put your First name and initial in the post so we know who you are.  We will figure out who has posted on Tuesday so don't worry about it if you didn't do this.
