Chinese manufacturing companies backed by the Chinese government have been planting spying chips, not much bigger than a grain of rice, into motherboards that are being sold to U.S. companies and to the United States military.

A latvian hacker behind the development and operation of counter antivirus service "scan4you" has been sentences to jail for three years three counts, including conspiracy to violate the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act. This program would scan the computer and  allowed hackers to run their code by several popular antiviruses to determine if their computer virus or malware would be flagged during routine security scans before launching them into a real-world malware campaign.

Re: Security Discussion Topic #2 Due Monday the 15th

https://www.wired.co.uk/article/hacks-data-breaches-in-2018  For more than 2 weeks in the summer of 2017 hackers were inside the British airways systems. They took the personal and financial details of customers who made or changed bookings on ba.com. They were able to steal a lot of private information from those who did this.
