AMD Radeon 7 will support Linux out of the box giving a jump to the Linux gaming world and is good news to windows-hating PC builders. Previous versions of AMD did not come with Linux support standard, an update would be required to run the card on s Linux machine.

Steam for Linux has made Linux a legitimate gaming option, which appears to be pushing hardware (and software) manufacturers to take Linux seriously.  AMD's new top of the line GPU will support Linux from day 1 right out of the box.  The AMD Radeon VII packs a serious punch, and will compete directly with Nvidia's RTX 2080.  With the Radeon VII supporting Linux out of the box, this may be the catalyst that some gamers need to make the jump to Linux for good.

"Ubuntu Kylin, a Linux Distribution with a Microsoft Windows Experience"

This article covers Ubuntu Kylin, a distribution of Linux released in 2013 and partially developed by a team from China. The UI is very similar to Windows OS, and even includes a suite of "office" apps similar to MS Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) called WPS Office. These programs are also designed to be compatible with MS Office document formats to allow editing.

Automaker Hyundai has opted to join the Linux Foundation to add their resources as well as reap the benefits of the seven-year-old AGL (Automotive Grade Linux). Software currently is being developed by over 140 companies, all contributing to a better car-integrated Linux platform! Other automakers have also been involved in this open source endeavor including Toyota, Ford, Honda, and Suzuki.

Many people were unsettled by the fact that their new Radeon RX 590 graphics cards were not recognized by linux. Apparently Amd shipped their newer GPU's without linux support. Amd has stated that their newer graphics cards going forward will ship with linux support.

Please don't ask me to talk to the class. Stagefright :-(
Article that details some of the differences between popular versions of linux- Arch linux, and ubuntu. Arch linux is more of a bare installation, and according to this article, for people who are more "tinkers" who want to fully customize their system. The article says that users should definitely be familiar or interested in learning how to use the terminal. Ubuntu on the other hand is already loaded with software, and features right out of the box and would require very little configuration or use of the terminal.

New Zealand's economy is dependent on agriculture, a sector that is highly sensitive to climate change. That analysis can be done with tools such as agricultural systems models. APSIM(Agricultural Production Systems Simulator), used in conjunction with linux containers, assists with taking data gathered and using it for a more large scale area, and implementing theoretical data that can assist in prediciting certain scenarios that could occur with encroaching climate change.
