The ability to search through commands that have been executed in the past is a powerful tool to have at our disposal. This article goes over the history command, and some more advanced methods of using it. I have been reading the .bash_history file in the home directory to see what commands I have previously done in terminal, but this tool will make the process much quicker.

Systemback is a tool that works on Ubuntu derived systems. It allows users to backup, restore, copy, install, and my favorite feature- allows you to make your currently installed Ubuntu into a bootable ISO that is ready to be redistributed to other PC's with all of your custom settings intact. The only limitation is that the resulting file has to be below 4 gigs in order to convert to an ISO.

At some point, you may come across a GUI-less linux box where you need to configure network settings, but how do you do so without a GUI? The ifconfig command does much more than simply listing your network interfaces and displaying your current IP addressing information. With a few extra arguments, it allows you to change your IP, Netmask, a "Broadcast" IP, whatever this is, and also allows you to modify your MAC address.
