A cellular flaw Allowed hackers to drain victims bank accounts by intercepting two-factor authentication code sent by banks to their customers and redirecting it to themselves.
White hat hackers demonstrated how cybercriminals could exploit this flaw to take control of victims bitcoin walllets.

More than 75,000 computers around the world were infected with ransomware in May. Affected computer systems forced emergency rooms in the U.K. to turn away patients. German twitter users posted pictures of public signage that had been hacked as well.

I found it interesting that Saudi Arabia's worst cyber attack was against Saudi Aramco, the worlds largest oil company. It was hit with the Shamoon virus in 2012. What makes this so interesting is earlier this year, there was an alert that was put out about the Shamoon virus after the Labor industry had been attacked and a chemical firm had reported a network disruption. Its probably a good thing that Saudi Arabia has set up a new authority for cyber security. Its called The National Authority for Cyber Security.

Viewed as the worst gaming community breach of all time, in April of 2011 Sony Playstation Network (SPN) user reported fraud against their credit cards. A security firm reported that hackers were offering SPN users credit card details for sale. this shut down SPN for a month and estimated losses of SPN at $171 million. In 2014 Sony agreed to pay a $15 million settlement in a class action lawsuit.
