If you want to try out a new desktop, you can install Gnome 3.  There are videos on this as well as this article.  The article is good because it directs you to create a backup copy of your configuration files.  The process to install it is short.  Just a couple commands.

https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/106480/how-to-copy-files-from-one-machine-to-another-using-ssh

This is a forum post, but it goes over how to copy files from one machine to the host or vice versa using SSH.

In short, to put files into the computer you are SSH'd into, you use
scp /path/to/file username@a:/path/to/destination

To copy files from the the machine you use
scp username@b:/path/to/file /path/to/destination

Re: Article #4 - Due Monday February 10th

In the most recent version of the Linux kernel, the WireGuard VPN protocol will be implemented. The reason this is significant is because the protocol itself is relatively small and easy to implement. When compared to other protocols which can be around 100,000 lines of code, WireGuard is practically miniscule at around 4,000. This makes it easier to audit for security vulnerabilities, and even makes it possible for a single person to review, rather than an entire security team. To top it all off, the protocol is thoroughly cross platform compatible, working on Linux, Windows, MacOS, BSD, iOS, and Android.

The FBI's most wanted cybercriminal to date!

It is interesting to view what these people look like. The maority seem to be Russian, with a few Iranians, Chinese as well as Koreans.

This was also interesting, first time Ive ever heard of Carpet-Bombing, another type of DDOS attack.  Which seems rather clever in the way they target.  DNS and CDLAP amplification seems to get around modern protection while not being detected.

I found this article sort of helpful, it covers tricks and shortcuts in the terminal that I was unaware of, especially the keyboard shortcuts. It also talks about saving long commands and using aliases in the terminal to save time.
