Linux smartphone is now shipping for $150
Pine64 has recently shipped its new lunix phone directed at the more Linux savvy people out there. called "braveheart", it has shipped at a price of $149.99, but requires users to install their own preferred os build.
the company began selling single board linux laptops to compete with the raspberry pi. the phone is powered by the same quad core arm64 used in their laptops, and has some dope dip switches under the back caver of the phone that lets you manually kill the modem, gps, wifi, bluetooth, microphone, and cameras.

Re: Next Article! Due Friday the 14th....

this article makes me want to ditch my Samsung phone.  Are they really to blame for recent vulnerabilities?  I don't think this is one of the Pros of open-source As great as it is (open-source) this is a huge potential nightmare in the works, considering all the vulnerabilities, ransomware, trojans, etc. in recent months, of which is still on the rise.  If it can't be made without allowing add ons/changes will it ever be secure?

Re: Next Article! Due Friday the 14th....

9 Year old security vulnerability found in Unix and Linux based operating systems. This bug can be exploited to give users root privileges on a system. This bug mostly affects Linux Mint and Elementary OS because pwfeedback is enabled by default in those distros. Updating to 1.8.31 or newer of Sudo will patch this issue. Just finding this security hole in Linux is nuts especially, that's it has been there for so long.

This article is about the TRIM service on many Linux OS that is the equivalent of a disk de fragmentation for a standard hard drive but meant to be used to safely clean up waste in an Solid State Drive. There are different ways to utilize the tool and a recent test mode seems to be the most effective.

Re: Next Article! Due Friday the 14th....

This article discusses the history of Ubuntu and breaks down each version since its origin in 2004. I learned some interesting details such as there is a new version released every 6 months and that it was developed by the Canonical foundation. Ubuntu also introduced shipit, where users could order an installation disc for free.
