Re: Articles for Monday the 31st - Halloween Special!

After some looking I finally found an article related to security\tech and Halloween. It's a survey of the 7 top tech nightmares haunting IT pros this Halloween including data breaches, ransomware, and service outages. The article holds out some hope for what it calls hero technologies "set to vanquish the monsters" over the next two years but does not name them.

“Hacker Caught Attempting To Steal $1.5 Million From US Financial Institution”

Dwayne Hans was arrested for allegedly cheating a financial institution out of $134,000. He posed as an authorized representative of the company between April and July of this year. He used the money to buy stocks and invest in real estate. Han’s then hacked SAM.gov website that carries information to providing services to the government, and replaced the financial institution’s bank account number with his own.

iPhone hack that threatened emergency 911 system lands teen in jail. The 911-dialing code was hosted on a site with the name "Meet Desai." A link posted on the TheHackSpot YouTube channel and one or more Twitter accounts then encouraged people to click on the link. It had been clicked 1,849 times.http://arstechnica.com/security/2016/10/teen-arrested-for-iphone-hack-that-threatened-emergency-911-system/

Two guys from Levittown, Francisco Disla and Joseph Giacalone have a spooky business they run on their Facebook Page called Haunted House. They sell spooky music and assorted paraphernalia, things perfect for Halloween. This is their big season. But some guy posing as a legitimate business trying to make an advertising deal hacked into their Facebook account and stole the entire business at the business time of year.

Here are three zombie security myths that just won’t die. First myth is that Mac computers can not get malware. Second myth is that people assume that Linux open source code cannot have bugs in it. Third myth is Windows XP is good enough.
