1) Start terminal
2) Type sudoedit  /etc/default/grub (hit enter)
3) Change the GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=”quiet splash” line to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=”quiet splash video=hyperv_fb:1440x900”
4) Hold ctrl and press x to save modified buffer, press Y, then enter.
5) Run sudo update-grub
6) Run sudo reboot
7) After reboot of the virtual Ubuntu machine, click view > Full Screen Mode
NOTE: This is only for the widescreen monitor.
