Re: Article #5 - Due Feb 11th

Hackers have developed a new backdoor trojan, named SneakUp, that is a  malware that is currently distributed to Linux servers mainly located in China. The backdoor for the first time three weeks ago, on January 14, SpeakUp also comes with a built-in Python script that the malware uses to spread laterally through the local network.

Samsung DeX is entering private beta. DeX is a little dock where you can put your phone on and you can run a full Linux distro. In the beta, you will only be able to run Ubuntu 16.04 LTS though. The dock plugs into a monitor, your phone can sit on it, and you can have a full linux machine. It will only support linux apps that are designed for  ARM 64-bit architecture.

Re: Article #5 - Due Feb 11th

One common issue with dual booting Linux and Windows 10 is that they will often show different clock times. Linux by default is set to use RTC (real time clock). To change this you can use a simple command in terminal called "timedatectl" and you can change Linux to use UTC time instead RTC. It seems to be less complicated to focus on changing the Linux time mode rather than trying to change windows 10's time mode.

Re: Article #5 - Due Feb 11th

So I found this article on 7 reason why John Paul uses Manjaro and why I should also. He talks about how its not a very well know distros unlike Ubuntu and Mint. John is very excited about Manjaro and think we are all missing out by not using Manjaro. John talks a lot about how easy the distro installs, how easy it is to use, update, and how much support the Manjaro distro has. He explains that it is very noob friendly how ever I kind of questioned that after reading the last comment that I could read. He explains how it is not noob friendly and there is a secret category called "Lounge" where advanced users and developers go to poke fun at the noobs and are not nice. However, I do not see how this will affect me unless they were giving me bogus information on how to do something inside Manjaro. Just to get a laulf.

Re: Article #5 - Due Feb 11th

A project lead at Dell named Barton George talks with Forbes about Project Sputnik, which is Dell's push to get different Linux distributions on a variety of Dell machines.  What makes this project unique is the fact that Dell is working with component manufacturers to develop Linux drivers so that these machines ship ready to go "out of the box".  George is committed to improving the entire ecosystem, even if that means helping competing companies.

We all Know that Netflix is one of the most popular streaming services around. What most of us probably don't know is that Netflix uses FreeBSD to deliver its content to its customers. Netflix uses FreeBSD to build its in-house CDN which is a group of servers located in different parts of the world. It is use to deliver heavy content like videos to end users faster than centralize server.
