Linux vs Windows
1.  When it comes to speed Linux takes it.  Linux tends to get less bogged down with multiple processes.  With their Ext4 file system, it's efficient.  Defragmentation is a thing of the past as well.
2.  When it comes to Privacy, Linux again in my opinion as their operating system doesn't "spy" on you or "phone home". Not to mention the option of built-in military-grade encryption, making your data all the more secure.
3.  While it may lack some qualities as far as entertainment and gaming go, Linux has gained popularity because of its stability and adaptability.  When Windows is always attempting to hide as many system settings as possible, And Linux it's readily available to the user.
4.  When considering Windows is ready out of the box, that is a plus. However, with that comes the hackers and spammers, etc which target Windows frequently.

Windows is really just a "only-for-profit" type of company to me.  While they do have great support, they really don't want to play with others so to speak. While at times, it seems that open-source software is the best choice for so many reasons, Windows will probably always hold the majority of the market with their many popular software programs and apps.  As long as someone is willing to pay Microsoft will be first in-line to take your money.  Since Linux is based on UNIX architecture, it is a multi-user operating system, while Windows is just a single-user system. While Linux is considered by some to be more stable and secure than Windows, which is because Linux is community-driven, having been developed through people collaborating and they (developers) monitor it constantly, should a problem surface there can be a solution within a few hours, Which is much quicker than Windows.  Clearly Linux is improving all the time, but with only approx. 1% of the market and Windows 93%, they have a long way to go if they hope to catch up to Microsoft.

I have always been a fan of Linux, I

wordpress article that proved very interesting, especially since we have been using it lately.  There are several vulnerabilities that could possibly let attackers in to your system and allowing them to take over.   [/url]

This theory being tried on for the benefit of a few research papers at The University of Texas might be a win.  The idea is to let the criminals trying to steal data, in instead of keeping them out.  Hoping to discover the tricks of their trade, and uncovering details on the why, how, where instead. Giving light to better inform on how to keep them out in the future.

this article makes me want to ditch my Samsung phone.  Are they really to blame for recent vulnerabilities?  I don't think this is one of the Pros of open-source As great as it is (open-source) this is a huge potential nightmare in the works, considering all the vulnerabilities, ransomware, trojans, etc. in recent months, of which is still on the rise.  If it can't be made without allowing add ons/changes will it ever be secure?

The FBI's most wanted cybercriminal to date!

It is interesting to view what these people look like. The maority seem to be Russian, with a few Iranians, Chinese as well as Koreans.

This was also interesting, first time Ive ever heard of Carpet-Bombing, another type of DDOS attack.  Which seems rather clever in the way they target.  DNS and CDLAP amplification seems to get around modern protection while not being detected.

This article is about being aware of the emerging threats that are to be expected in the future on a Linux machine.  The possibility that no one is really looking for them since they usually relate most viruses to Windows.  The problem is going to be lack of detection and reporting of cases, and how the Cloud will affect possible threats.

This is a very interesting article to say the least.. AN employee from Linux designed a security device that when attached correctly can wipe a Linux laptop of sensitive data.  And like most things Linux, this is Open-Source info, as the inventor is sharing exactly  how to make your own cable called Buskill.

This article was very interesting. Remote Desktop Protocol, which is used by so many businesses. This might make one re think it. Or atleast find a better way to secure it. It can act like a gateway to the GOLD for a cyber criminal.
RDP is the most dominant attack vector, being used in 63.5% of disclosed targeted ransomware campaigns in Q1 2019.(cyware)
