In the past, searching for Linux files using a Windows OS was a tricky process. Not anymore! Windows is finally supporting the Linux distros and adding support for viewing and editing files within them. Supposedly, you will also get improvements to how you can manage and configure your distros in the command line. You will be able to access files from windows via a new 9P protocol file server in your Linux instance, which is a distributed file network protocol. In WSL, it enables you to work with Linux files and file systems. Including support for metadata and permissions.

You can schedule tasks through terminal within Linux using a built in program called crontab. There are several editors that are often pre-built into the Linux distro, in which you can open crontab. Once you have it opened, you can do just about anything you can set your heart to! You can launch applications, restart the computer, set it to sleep for a specific time, check and download updates and just about anything else.

A new trojan called "Speak Up" has been found infecting Linux based servers. CheckPoint researchers have found the trojan which reportedly is targeting Linux servers in China. The Trojan infects itself within the subnet that the server operates. The trojan also supposedly can infect Mac machines by taking advantage of an "undetected backdoor". The trojan is spreading beyond China and quickly going across East Asian and Latin America.

Dell launches a 13" XPS ultralight laptop with Ubuntu installed straight out of the box!
You can get the laptop with the traditional version of the Intel Core processors. (i3, i5, and i7) up to 16 gigs of memory and UHD resolution. This is a big jump for Linux, especially Ubuntu since it will now be supported straight out of the box by a big retailer!
